SWS's Core Horses
All of our horses which we use for lessons, leisure riding and leases are proven as reliable (as they come!) horses for youth to ride and from which to learn. Some are more English-oriented and others are more western. Each one of them has her own strengths, quirks, preferences and personality. Let me introduce them to you!
"Jasmine!" is the longest standing horse on the place. She's a 1987 grade mare standing about 13.3 hands. She's a lot of fun in mounted games; but she can also jump, perform dressage (as demonstrated in this photo with a seven year old rider!), and show. Jasmine likes beer and Doritos, but will eat nearly anything. Nicknames include "PM" (for "Pony Mare") and "Jasmine-a-pone-pone".
"Bill's Glory Girl" is a 1991 Appendix AQHA mare. She is no
longer the dappled grey which you see in this photo. In fact she's nearly white/grey
now. She stands about 15 hands and is a fantastic Beginner & Youth show
horse. She seldom comes home without some type of division highpoint award.
Glory is a gentle horse who loves to be groomed. Nicknames include
"Glory Doodles" and "Doodle-Poodle".
"Smiling
W Dreamer" is a 14.2 hand lineback dun and is double registered as
such. She is rather lazy; however, she does enjoy jumping. She has also been
used to work cows. Dream loves food, rest and a good neck scratching. Generally
she is referred to as "Dream", but she is also called
"Blimp" and "Hefty".
"Spice"
is a big, ol' Percheron/AQHA cross mare born in 1994. She stands nearly 16.3
hands. She can do almost anything if she puts her mind to it...which is seldom.
Spice loves attention, in fact she's is an attention hog! Nicknames include
"Goofy", "Roony" and "Spice-let-a-roony-o".
Lady
Lacy: Lacy is a 1995 sorrel mare, approximately 14.2h. Quarter
Horse type. She has lots of personality. She has been ridden by youth, shown
successfully in Walk/Trot Divisions and is just basically a fun all-round mare.
Nicknames include "B", "Burgerette" and "Pumpkin".
